Holden's character: chapters 1-4

When I first got introduced to Holden in chapters 1-4, he seemed to me that he did not care about his future. He also seemed to be a careless person because he left all of his team's fencing gear on the subway. I know that he has gotten kicked out of his current prep school and has spoken to Mr. Spencer about how he feels about he being kicked out and all. I felt depressed when I started to read this book but I figured out that he is just crying for attention.

Childhood to Adulthood

I honestly don't see Holden as a child in this Novel because he acts too mature for his age. I know that he is having a hard time trying to decide what to do with his life. Part of him says that he should screw himself over and the other part thinks he can make it to the real world with some motivation from his parents.He also needs a big attitude change and needs to change his lifestyle and his attitude towards life because in his later years, he will have to face some sort of reality whether he likes it or not

Holden's phonyness

As I have read these pat six chapters, I have noticed that Holden is phony. That means that he is a habitual liar and he thinks he is twenty-one. He drinks, he smokes, he tries to pick fights with people who are twice his size. In the real world, he would not make it because life is a game, you can't skip any spaces. I have also noticed that he is very lonely and depressed. He is homesick. I think he is doing all of this because he is crying out for attention.

Throughout these nine chapters i have read, I've noticed that Holden acts too old for his age. In the first few chapters, he acted like he owned Pency and that it was Pency's fault that he had gotten kicked out. To me, it seemed like he didn't even try in school and that his attitude might have gotten the best of him. he seems like a shady character who doesn't want to get attached to anyone.
He says mean things about the other character's in the book and is a compulsive lier.
